Weed control starts in the early spring, when the ground first begins to warm. Be sure to schedule your application early so we can get the crabgrass and other annoying summer weeds before they ruin your lawn. But don't be discourage if you didn’t take care of it this spring. There are some other products that I can offer to help manage the weeds. Once the summer hits, we can do the fertilizing to keep that lush dark green look. Remember, the state of North Carolina requires a ground application license for anyone applying chemicals to someone else’s lawn.
Spring: Overseeding during the spring is not recommended, but it can be done. During the spring there is more competition from weeds and typically there is not enough time for the roots to burrow deep enough to survive the summer heat.
Fall: This is the best time of year to overseed with cool season grass. Turf type tall fescue is best for our area as it is the most heat/drought tolerant or the cool season grasses and it does well with aggressive traffic.
